Summer Term 2020
This summer term has been rather different following the lockdown starting in March. We moved into the Easter holidays feeling very worried and concerned and worked hard to be open for all children of critical workers and vulnerable children who attend our setting. We are very proud that we were able to stay open while lots of other settings closed. The first half of term was pretty quiet but we were open for 4 days a week and used the day we were closed to tidy and sort and clean our lovely pre-school! The government then relaxed the lockdown and we are finally able to welcome more children back to pre-school and we love seeing them! Their friends who were attending all along are also thrilled to see old friends return and pre-school feels much more normal, busier and full of chatter and laughter and lovely activities, despite having to take out a huge amount of our lovely resources! We certainly feel safe at pre-school and grateful to have a team of ladies who are happy at work and are loving being with the children. We are still very restricted on numbers, we only have 12 children a day at the moment and we have no idea of whether we will be able to increase this at all.
Lots of information will be coming to you via email, we are planning to take graduation photos at pre-school, we will have your special books, certificates and gift ready to collect at the end of term and we will have a mini leaving celebration with the children who are attending during their last week. We will not be able to invite any family members in but it will be a lovely chance to say goodbye to our school starters who are at pre-school now.
Last week we enjoyed lots of outside play, potion making, bike races, shape hunts, water play, painting and inside we played with parachutes, played bingo, made hama bead rainbows too.
We are focusing on the world around us, gardening and natural art work. We have certainly had to change how we plan and we are ensuring all of the children are settled and happy, and we take it in turns to spend a lot of time cleaning!
We have also changed the names of the rooms! Greens – for the Autumn the youngest children will be Stars – the current Greens will join the Sun group or the Moon group and we will have lovely new colours for the registration shapes. Lots going on behind the scenes as always!
Thank you to all families for your support during these hard times, I will be trying to catch up with everyone who is not coming in over the coming week or so and checking how things are and if you have any worries. As always we are here for you and please do not hesitate to contact us – we are open 5 days a week. We hope you are all safe and healthy and well and look forward to seeing you for photograph appointments perhaps on the 3rd July and to welcoming back our future Sun and Moon children in the Autumn.
